Attorney Robert J. Cary, Jr. is a partner in the Groton Law Firm of Brown & Cary located at 4 Fort Hill Road, Groton, CT. Rob has practiced in Connecticut since his 1986 graduation from the University of Connecticut Law School.

He has focused his practice in New London County since 1988, developing a significant concentration in family law and mediation. He has appeared in the Superior Court, Family, Civil and Juvenile Divisions; the Support Enforcement Division of the Magistrate’s Court; Connecticut Appellate and Supreme Courts, and since October 1992, the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Court. He also has regularly appeared in Probate Courts in the State of Connecticut and the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Court. He is a Court appointed Special Master for Family Matters in the New London Superior Court and the Regional Family Trial Docket in the Middletown Superior Court. He was a member of the original Special Masters program in the Regional Family Trial Docket chosen by local Presiding Family Judges that received a ten-week training session. He has also completed mediation and negotiation training through the Harvard Negotiation Project and the American Academy of Family Mediators. Attorney Cary has represented Tribal and non-tribal parties in the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Courts and State of Connecticut Superior Court, Family Division. Attorney Cary has also been regularly involved in the various areas connected to ownership and use of real estate from the beginning of his practice.

A resident of Southeastern Connecticut since 1988, Attorney Cary resides  in the Stonington with his wife and two children, who attend the Stonington Schools. He is currently a member of the Stonington Board of Education.
